Can the Maker Movement be Virtual ?

Not all students have a significant adult with the appropriate skills or a shed full of tools to have our own Maker Space. Can the idea of a Maker Space be started in a virtual environment. Could the iPad provide the opportunity to gets kids tinkering - at least enough to see if they really want to explore the notions of becoming a maker. These apps are not a replacement experience for the real maker concept but rather an initial alternative for kids who can not find a maker co-op near them.

  1. I am sorry but this list of apps to virtually explore the making of real things seems surreal at best. Making things means making real things. Not some virtual version of the real. Nothing wrong with the virtual but by definition it isn't real. And I believe the reason folks are rediscovering making things is because it is inherently human, to make something that might outlive the human who made it.

  2. Great assortment of virtual maker apps. One may make something in real life or in the virtual world; the idea of the Maker Movement is to make something. Another twist could be a blended model of people making something in real life and sharing and collaborating in the virtual world. Thanks again for some great apps related to the Maker Movement.
